Hearts Love 23

Wilma Corinne Zumsteg

March 9, 1919 ~ May 13, 2022 (age 103)

Wilma “Billie” Zumsteg, 103, passed away on May 13th, 2022, with her family by her side.

Billie was born on March 9th, 1919, on a dairy farm in Loleta, California, the youngest of six children born to Swiss immigrants Corinna and Martin Pedrazzini. She graduated from the Eel River Elementary School, a one room schoolhouse in Loleta, completed high school in nearby Fortuna, then attended San Francisco College for Women and San Francisco State for her Bachelor of Arts and Teaching Credential. While living in a boarding house in San Francisco, she met and married Paul Zumsteg, who was serving in the U.S. Navy. After World War II, the couple purchased a house in San Bruno where they raised their three daughters and participated in the community life of their beloved parish, St. Robert's. Billie worked as a teacher before her children were born and as a teacher's aide into her 70's. She loved to read and was a lifelong advocate of learning, enjoying adult education classes well into her 90's.

Billie is survived by her devoted daughters, Leta Reynolds (Robert) of Bermuda Dunes; Beth Winters (Rich Tomlinson) of Bradley, and Arlene Zumsteg of Campbell. She is also survived by her grandchildren Keri Parker of Boerne, Texas; Nicole Hughes of La Quinta; and Alex Zumsteg of Campbell; great grandchildren Mylie and Emmy Parker, and Cora and Tessa Hughes. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, all her siblings and most of her dear friends.
