Viva J. Deshon

January 16, 1923 ~ November 13, 2017 (age 94)
Steve was born in Ada, OK to Leroy Stephens & Bessie Philpot Stephens. She graduated from the University of OK with a BA in Home Economics. After graduation she was hired by Braniff as a stewardess. There she met her first husband, Col. Wayne Winder. As a military family they lived in San Francisco, Arlington, VA and Germany.
In 1965 She met George Deshon. They married on Aug. 23, 1969. They worked, played and traveled together for almost 40 years before he passed in 2008.
Steve, in 1976, earned her Master’s in textile design from SJSU where she taught briefly while also volunteering in our community. She was an active volunteer at the Foothill Club of Saratoga, the Montalvo Service Group, Glenna Harris Hand Weavers Guild, Ming Quong and the SJSU Faculty Wives Club.
Steve is survived by her children Tom Winder, Susan Deshon and Joe Deshon, daughter-in-law Jean Winder Caligiuri and son-in-law Jesus Rodriguez; grandchildren: Dylan & Sydney Winder; Jordan, Jenille, & Jonathan Winder; and Andres Rodriguez; & great grandchildren: Carly & Aleah Rodriguez; Hudson & Sutton Winder; Caden & Taran Winder. She was proceeded in death by her two children Carolyn Deshon Rodriguez and Bill Winder.
A memorial service will be at The Terraces of Los Gatos on Nov. 26th at 11 AM.
She requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Holy Land Research Institute (Exec. Dir. Tom Winder) or the charity of your choice.
