Vita Ann Cardia, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Vita was born in San Diego, CA on November 26, 1932 to Ignazio (Nate) and Anita Demarco. Ignazio (Nate) was born in San Francisco and brought Anita to America in 1932. In 1937, when Vita was 5 years old, her family relocated to San Francisco. That same year, the Golden Gate Bridge opened and Vita, her Mother and her Aunt were among the first to walk across it.
Vita grew up in the North Beach and Marina Districts of San Francisco, and graduated from Galileo High School. Her first job after graduation was with Bank of America in the Foreign Exchange Department. In 1957, Vita married the love of her life, Bill Cardia at St. Peters and Paul Cathedral in San Francisco. Afterward, the couple relocated to Burlingame where they celebrated the birth of their first child. They eventually moved to Cupertino where they went on to have 3 more children. Sadly, after 34 wonderful years of marriage, Bill passed away in 1991 at the age of 58.
Vita was an avid Bingo enthusiast and enjoyed playing for nearly 30 years at St. Joseph of Cupertino Parish. She also enjoyed many years of world travel with her friends – Italy, and particularly, Sicily where her parents grew up, were among her favorite destinations.
Vita is survived by her four children; sons Frank (Veronica) and Michael Cardia, daughters Diana Cardia and Tina Cardia Chambers (Donald Chambers). Grandchildren, Chelsea Cardia Picchetti (Anthony), Frank Cardia, William Cardia, Dylan Cardia, Amanda Chambers, Jennifer Chambers and great granddaughter, Audrey Picchetti.
