Stan Raymond Kolman passed away on Wednesday, July 24 after a brief battle with cancer. In his 90 years, Stan touched friends and family alike with his warmth, outgoing personality and witty humor.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois and after graduating high school, Stan went on to attend Illinois State Normal University and later graduated from DeVry Institute. He served in 516th Signal Company the United States Army, rising to the rank of Sergeant. Stan later served in the Civil Air Patrol.
A lifetime love for electronics led him to a lengthy career at United Airlines with stints in Chicago, Los Angeles, Cleveland and San Francisco. Stan served first as a mechanic, and later as an maintenance instructor with a specialization in avionics and inertial navigation. Upon retiring in 1991, Stan remained active for many years in the United Airlines Retirees Association, and spent time with his family.
Stan is survived by his loving wife, Dee, as well as his children from his first marriage to Shirlee Kolman: Debra (Steve) Mekler and Scott (Aimee) Kolman of San Jose, and Alexandria North of Concord; and grandchildren Darcy Neuman of Herin, IL; Danielle and Julia Kolman, Stephanie Lynn, and Samantha and Steven Mekler of San Jose. He is also survived by his brother Roger Kolman of Glen Ellyn, IL.
His generous loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
