Ba was born Shanta Ramjee Vora on October 10, 1914 in Chibhda, India to Ramjee and Kusumba Vora. The youngest of six children, Ba grew up in Rajkot, India and kept busy with household work, making crafts, playing, and helping in her father’s shop after her fourth grade education.
Ba and Bapuji married in 1931. Years later, Ba and Bapuji settled in Mumbai to raise their family. In 1988, they moved to San Jose to be with their children who had immigrated to the United States over the years. Small in stature, but big on selflessness, Ba devoted her life to God and family.
