Robert Andrew Hanson

August 20, 1928 ~ May 27, 2022 (age 93)

Born in Des Plaines, IL, Bob was the fourth child to Werner and Lydia Hanson, both immigrants from Scandinavia. At the age of 21, Bob joined the US Army and was stationed at Camp Beale, now Beale Air Force Base in Marysville, CA. In 1952 Bob married the love of his life Lawanda Tiner,
and in 1953 their first child, Tim was born in Yuba City.
The young couple soon moved to Santa Cruz, and the Scott’s Valley area where both Jenell and Eric were born and Bob attended and graduated from Bethany Bible College with his bachelors degree.
Moving to San Jose in 1958 Bob supported his growing family as a carpenter building his first and life-long home in 1960. J. Denise and Gretchen had come along by 1963, and Bob was building custom homes throughout the Valley as a general contractor, “R.A. Hanson Construction”. During his career Bob worked for Pyramid Homes with 30 years of dedication to his trade as a master finish carpenter and loyal to the end as a lifetime member of the Local Carpenters Union.
Bob loved the outdoors, a lifetime supporter of many conservation groups, Sierra Club, Wild-life, Oceans, The Giant Redwoods and many more.
A lifetime Cubs fan, the San Francisco Giants, the 49’ers and the San Jose Sharks too. He loved to play golf, snow ski and spend time at the second home he built in Rail Road Flat. He loved history and the many road trips of discovery in every state and Europe too! Husband, Dad, Papa and great-papa, Bob was deeply loved by his family and he loved all of us back even more! He is at peace to be with the Lord and to see Lawanda, “His Boys” Tim and Eric Hanson who proceed him in death.
He is survived by Daughters, Jenell (Yosh) Mikosz, J. Denise (Ned) Pauling, Gretchen (Randy) Law. 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a large extended family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11th, at 2:00 p.m. at Hillside Church, 545 Hillsdale Ave., San Jose, CA 95136
