Nancy Lunsford Strong, loving mother and devoted wife, passed away in Los Gatos, on the afternoon of June 21st.
Nancy grew up in Piedmont, CA, and attended the University of Oregon, where she joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, making life-long friends. "Luns", her husband, Ed, and their children moved overseas in 1963 to live in Germany, Spain and Switzerland, from where they returned in 1982. Much of Nancy's life was devoted to community service, with an early stint as a board member of the American International School of Zuerich, and later work as a dedicated volunteer for Hospice of the Valley. Through her support of Montalvo Service Group, as well as her participation in the network of overseas GE spouses, Nancy built a deep and satisfying friendship network, which continued until her passing.
Her personal warmth, inner strength, devotion to family, hospitality, painting, cooking, crossword puzzles and enjoyment of travel will be sorely missed. Nancy is survived by her three children, Ned, Tom and Norm; four grandchildren, Nick, Samantha, Ben and Abbey; as well as her great granddaughter, Kalaya.
Consistent with Nancy's wishes, remembrance services have been held with family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's name to Hospice of the Valley (www.hospicevalley.org), Second Harvest Food Bank (www.shfb.org) or a charity of your choice.
