Mr Michael Bonasera

February 22, 1947 ~ December 30, 2020 (age 73)

Tribute

Michael “Mickey” John Bonasera February 22, 1947 – December 30, /2020 Mickey’s fight with pancreatic cancer went its final round on Wednesday, December, 30, 2020. No one lived life fuller and touched more lives with his heart, kindness and positivity than Mickey.

Born on Feb 22, 1947, then adopted 2 years later by his parents Mickey and Mayre Bonasera, Mickey grew up in the Saratoga home that his father built. He graduated Saratoga High, served in the Army Reserves and then graduated from Santa Clara University with a BSC degree in Finance. He grew up working in his family’s auto business, Bonasera Chrysler Plymouth on North First Street in San Jose. He briefly followed his speed boat passion by going into the boat business, but later found his true calling as a financial advisor at Dean Witter/Morgan Stanley where he built trusting relationships and long-lasting friendships for more than 40 years.

While Mickey married young, he eventually found his soulmate later in life in Rita Corio, with whom he happily shared the last 30 years of his life. Along with Rita, Mickey is survived by daughters Susan Bonasera, Jenette Del Monaco and Alison Earle, and grandchildren Audrie, Madelyne, Olivia and Michael. Mickey’s community involvement included the Boy Scouts of America, Goodwill Industries, Humane Society Silicon Valley, Rotary International, and The Liberty Forum. He also enjoyed the camaraderie of friends he made at GYRO and the St. Claire Club.

But the focus of his time included taking care of his family, coaching his girls’ sports teams, camping, tailgating at 49er games and hosting great parties, always bringing his family together. And then of course there was Lake Tahoe, his ‘happy place’, where he would take his girls, and eventually his grandkids boating, skiing and playing games at night by the fire. So many ways to describe Mickey, a loving husband, wise and compassionate father, adoring grandfather, an inspirational friend, a trusted advisor, an honest businessman, a generous and giving citizen, and a Mexican train-playing, concert-rocking, freedom-loving, true American patriot. Mickey truly lived life to the fullest and has left an immeasurable mark on the hearts of all who’ve had the honor of knowing him. To best remember Mick, raise a glass of wine...or better yet a Bombay Sapphire Martini, put on a Queen album, say something to annoy Rita, then sit back, savor a sip and smile as big as your face will possibly allow.

Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, the memorial services will be held privately. And in lieu of flowers, donations may be made ‘In Honor of Mickey Bonasera’ to the following:
