Melinda (Mindy) Kay Foos passed away peacefully at her home in Campbell, CA on Friday, May 7, 2021, following a long battle with cancer. She was very much loved for her sense of humor, and a remarkably sharp brain coupled with a gentle sensitivity.
Mindy was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 22, 1957, to William and Adele Foos. The family moved to Cupertino, CA in 1962 and then to Saratoga, CA several years later. She graduated from Saratoga High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from San Jose State University. She later became a CPA and opened an accounting practice where she spent most of her professional career. She helped her clients with taxes and other financial tasks.
When she wasn’t working, Mindy enjoyed road trips and hiking and was passionate about the game of bridge. Her sharp mind and fiercely competitive nature helped her excel in the game. She won many bridge competitions and represented the northern California district of the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League) in several national level events. She met her husband, Michael, through bridge and they were a known partnership in the district.
She also loved animals and had a special fondness for cats, especially her own two cats Brother and Harley.
Mindy is survived by her loving husband, Michael Fleisher, her sisters Rebecca Mason (Gary) and Suellen Johnston, her brother Douglas Foos (Kathy), nieces Elisa Baroni (Steve) and Leah Dean (Dave), nephews Andrew (Miranda) Johnston, Ryan Johnston, Nathan Foos and Jordan Foos.
Per her request, Mindy will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos, CA with a family only graveside service. Donations in her memory can be made to – The Cat House on the Kings.
