Marguerite Bigelow (nee Kenison) was born 11 February 1923 in San Francisco, California to John Kenison and Marguerite (Hardman) Kenison. She was the third of 5 children having 2 brothers and two sisters. Her parents were immigrants from Samoa and Australia and she was very proud of the heritage. As a child she suffered from Asthma, which stayed with her all her life, and also had a minor bout with polio which was discovered after she recovered.
As a teenager she attended Mission High School in San Francisco and graduated in 1939. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as were her parents and siblings. It was through her membership in The Church that she first became acquainted with the Bigelow family and her future husband. Their first date took place at the Fairmont Hotel where they saw Wee Bonnie Baker. They later married on the 17th of April 1942 and were sealed in Salt Lake Temple of the Church a year later.
Rulon was a musician and Marguerite often traveled with him. During WWII her son Robert was born and four years later their daughter Claudia was born.
With a family the traveling life of a musician ended and they set up a home in Felton, California later moving to San Jose in 1952 and eventually to Los Gatos where she lived until her passing.
She was active in Church and also worked for 30 years as the Executive Secretary for the Rubino family, owners of Valley View Packing Co.
She is survived by son Robert, daughter Claudia; Grand daughters Maggie, Lisa, Meghan, and Erin; Great grandchildren Conner, Alice, Ellie, Olive, Scarlett and Hazel.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cambrian Park Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1655 Noreen Drive, San Jose, CA 95124. A viewing will be held that morning at the Church from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Following the Interment at the Los Gatos Memorial Park a reception will be held at the Church.
