Luz “Rocio” Del Mercado, passed on Monday, April 26, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born to the late Oscar and Ligia Rodriquez on November 23, 1946 in Colombia. She arrived to the United States in 1962, met Marcos Del Mercado in 1968 and in 1971 married @ St. Lucy Parrish in Campbell.
Marcos and Rocio would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this December.
Together they lived and raised their children in Los Gatos, CA where Rocio remained until her passing.
Rocio was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Mamita to her four grandkids.
She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh with her quick wit and arsenal of expressions. She always had an open door and open heart. She was easy to talk to when you had something on your mind, her ability to hear you out and respond with unexpectedly clear advice was nothing short of truth and reason. Her faith in God was Herculean and her intuition was miraculous.
She was an avid lover of music and dancing. Rocio loved road trips and often visited her daughter in Lake Tahoe. She loved traveling so she also made frequent trips to her home in the Riviera Maya where she enjoyed many long vacations in Akumal, Mexico with her husband and family.
Rocio is survived by her husband and three daughters Lijia, Jessica and Sonia; son in laws Sean Justus, Dale Woods and her four grandchildren Ryan, Nikolas, Joshua and Andrew. She is also survived by several siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Rocio was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
