On July 27, 2018, Lowell Willis Berg completed his journey on earth to join his Master. He was born April 27, 1922 to Doris and Oscar Berg in North Platte, NE. He graduated from high school in that city in 1951 and attended BIOLA University in Los Angeles. In 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, Charlene Joyce Baumbach. To this union were born three sons – Michael Steven and twins, Rodney James and Robert Eugene, and one daughter, Cynthia Jayne Holbert.
Lowell won top Nebraska State honors in vocal solo work while in high school and also performed in lead roles in play performances. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War with 12 years of military service which also included some time in the Nebraska National Guard. He retired with 38 years of work with Pacific Bell Telephone Company and later 10 years with Firestone Company.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene, sons and daughter, two daughters-in-law, Lori and Patti Berg, one son-in-law, Jeffrey Holbert, 7 grandchildren-Christopher and Daniel Berg, Lindsey and Amber Berg, Brandon, Cameron and Scott Holbert. There are also six great grandchildren-Kai and Sy Berg, Sadie and Daniel Berg, Jr., and Johnny and Jacob Kassees. Lowell is survived by one brother, Dolan Berg, and one sister, Judy Huebner, both of Nebraska. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Toninette Swanson, and a brother-in-law, Michael Huebner, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11 AM at the Church on the Hill. Burial with military honors will follow at Los Gatos Memorial Park. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Church on the Hill, 500 Sands Drive, San Jose, CA 95125.
