Loretta passed away on Sept. 10 after battling congestive heart failure for the last year or so. Her gentle but persuasive manner and humor enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Loretta was born and raised on a farm in Kansas. She graduated from Fairview Rural High School in 1936 with a letter in women’s basketball. She married Reginald Meyer during WWII and raised six children. Her first husband died in 1968. She then worked at Mattel as seamstress for the design group for Barbie Doll clothes for over 20 years. She married Lloyd Churchill in 1978. In 1996 they moved to San Jose. Her second husband Lloyd died in 2000. She spent the last year of her life in a residential care home in Saratoga.
Loretta loved square dancing. She started before she met Lloyd and continued until she couldn’t physically continue. Her other hobbies were sewing and crafts.
Surviving children are Anita Morgan of Las Vegas, Frank Meyer of Seattle, Lewis Meyer of San Diego, Stephen Meyer of Boulder Creek, Irene Lopez of Monte Sereno, and Roger Meyer of Portland. Additional survivors are grandchildren Melanie Myers, Julianne Meyer, and A.J., Jenni, and Diana Lopez of San Jose, Lara Meyer Triona, PhD of Felton, Stephenie Meyer, PhD of Denver. Great grandchildren are Alyssa and Corin Triona of Felton, Della M., May M., and Juliun C. and step-grandson Louis M. of San Jose.
All who knew her are invited to a visitation on Tues. Sept 18, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm at Campbell Memorial Chapel in Campbell and a funeral service on Wed. Sept 19 at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Los Gatos at 11am. The burial will be at Holy Cross in Culver City on Sept 21 at 1:30 pm.
