John J. Bridgeman

November 27, 1924 ~ April 1, 2021 (age 96)


Mr. John James Bridgeman, son of the late Catherine and Michael Bridgeman, was born on November 27, 1924 in Binghamton, New York. He graduated from Binghamton Central High School. After graduating, he was drafted to serve in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. On September 17, 1949, John married the love of his life, Arlene Fedasko at St. Peter and Paul’s Greek Catholic Church in Endicott, New York. John later served another term in the Navy from 1950 to 1951. John served on two destroyer ships during his military career, the USS Storm DD758 and the USS Strong DD780.

John started his career at IBM in Endicott, NY in 1951. In 1955, he transferred to the San Jose, CA Customer Engineering Education Department. John was very successful in his career being promoted and serving under many different titles. He retired after 33 years at IBM from the Administration of Education Department.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He and his wife were blessed with six children and shared 71 years of marriage together. At 96 years old, John peacefully departed this life on April 1, 2021 in his home in San Jose, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Bridgeman, and son, Michael Bridgeman.

He was a dedicated Catholic and a parishioner of Saint Francis Cabrini Church. John was in a bowling league, enjoyed golfing with friends and family, and walking the Campbell Par Course with his beloved dog Andy. His love and the many great memories of him will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

John will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of his children, Ellen and Gary Nystrom, William and Angela Bridgeman, John and MaryAnne Bridgeman, Kevin and Trudi Bridgeman, and Katherine Johnson, his 10 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

There will be a private memorial service for Mr. Bridgeman held on April 16, 2021, at 11:00 am, at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos - Almaden Road, San Jose, CA 95124. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or The American Heart Association in honor and memory of Mr. Bridgeman.
