Mrs. Johanna “Joanne” Arnolda Jones, daughter of the late Arthur Nelson and Lena Nelson was born at home October 20th, 1921 in Hegra, Norway. Joanne was the youngest of three siblings, two brothers Kaare and Norman, sister Nanna all whom have preceded her in death. In 1929 Joanne celebrated her 8th birthday aboard a ship traveling the North Sea in route to America with her family. The family’s destination was Dutton, Montana.
Joanne and family lived a challenging life of farming after homesteading over 800 acres of environment rich land for spring wheat. Speaking only Norwegian, Joanne and siblings attended public school and learned to speak English. Joanne went on to attend Kinman’s Business University in Spokane, WA. After completing her furthered education Joanne moved to San Francisco, CA and assisted with clerical support in a shipyard participating in efforts of WWII. Joanne received a citation from the Army Air Force for her civilian service during the war.
While living in San Francisco, Joanne enjoyed attending the dances at the Avalon Ballroom in where she was swept off her feet by her late husband Edward Richard Jones. Joanne and Ed were united in holy matrimony Easter Sunday 1947. Joanne contributed clerical expertise in multiple self- started businesses with her husband. They enjoyed dancing, boating in the bay, flying (she learned how to land solo) and traveling many parts of the world.
Joanne quietly departed life the evening of June 9th, 2018 in her home of 65 years located in Monte Sereno, CA. Joanne was recognized for her patience and caring ways with family, friends and others.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara Carson, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family of magnitude.
