Janet Fahrner of San Jose passed away March 11, 2021 peacefully while sleeping. Loving wife, mother, friend, and volunteer, she was 87 years old. Janet was born to Thomas and Alice Hogan on Sept 2, 1933 in Au Sable Forks, NY. The family moved from Massena, NY in 1947 to San Jose where Janet enrolled in Notre-Dame High School and was in the graduating class of 1951. Janet met her future husband, Hugh, at a Bellarmine High School dance. They dated for several years and married on Aug 15, 1953. They were married 67 years, built a beautiful life together raising six children. Janet was an amazing mom to Karen (Bill), Pam Aberg, Cindy Fahrner Medjoubi, Greg (Jackie), Kevin, and Leslie Rearte. Loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Janet was predeceased by her sisters Helen Gurries and Donna Wilson. While raising children, well-organized Janet, took multi-tasking to new levels. She never refused a job in support of the children, including PTA, Girl Scout Leader and managing the girls’ softball team, and never failed to provide a home cooked meal for eight- every evening- all while also belonging to two Catholic charity groups. Janet and Hugh loved to travel and made many trips to Europe and Asia. After the children were raised, she took up golf, enjoying that for many years, especially competing with other clubs while in the 18-hole group at the SJ Country Club. Janet also enjoyed playing bridge with several groups, one of which played together for over 40 years. In 2006 Janet and Hugh moved to The Villages, a gated community for 55 and older residents, which was an excellent choice for enjoying retirement with more years of playing bridge and golf and making wonderful, loving friends.
