Harold (Hal) Frantz passed away on Jan. 4, 2020 from heart failure. He would have celebrated his 79th birthday in a few days. He was raised in Wasco, CA, and after graduation from Wasco High attended Bakersfield jr. College for 2 years before transferring to San Jose State College.
He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering and worked for 27 years at G.T.E Sylvania in government defense work. He was married to his wife, JoAnn, for over 55 years and they had 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a good Christian man who loved computers, singing in the choir, many sports (especially the Oakland A’s), repairing and inventing things, cruising, his family, and his dog.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Robert in 2015, and is survived by his wife, JoAnn, son, Bryan, daughter, Julie, grandchildren Travis, Dylan, Melannie, and Raymond and great-grandchildren Gavin, Avery, Isabella, Lillian and Mallia, and sisters, Linda Newcomb and Della Carlitz.
Services are scheduled at Bethel Church, 1201 Winchester Blvd, at 3:00pm on Thurs. Jan.16.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either Teen Challenge (teenchallengeusa.org) or Wounded Warriors (woundedwarriorproject.org) which were Hal's favorite charities.
