Grace Olivia Hansen, born August 16, 2002 to Steve and Julie Hansen, went to be with Jesus on May 19, 2020. She was blessed with 2 big brothers, Zachary and Cole and lived in San Jose, CA. Grace’s life brought so much joy to the people who cared for her and encountered her. She was a busy girl! She loved the schedule and social life of attending school, going to church, and being involved in Young Life Capernaum. Additionally, she was on the go with her family all of the time. They took many vacations together visiting family and friends all over the U.S.
In her 17 years she was a living testimony to God’s provision, protection, and goodness. She was certainly fearfully and wonderfully made by her Father God. Grace was surrounded by people who cared for and loved her well. Her well-being was prioritized by her family, and caretakers and it showed in the happiness that she expressed through her smiles, sing-songs, and “la-la’s” as her family so affectionately called them.
Despite the limitations her earthly body possessed, she lived an incredibly active and large life. She participated in the Kiwanis Special Games each summer. She also attended her first over night camp at Woodleaf with her Young Life Capernaum friends in the fall of 2019. One of the highlights of her high-school years was the “Night to Shine” dances where she got to get dressed up, tiara and all, and attend “prom”. Music and dancing always brought Grace so much joy!
Grace was preceded in death by her daddy, Steve. Her absence has left a hole in our hearts that we can’t describe, yet we take comfort in knowing her earthly father and heavenly Father welcomed her home with open arms. Grace is survived by her mother Julie, brothers Zachary and Cole, and sister-in-law Mikayla. Additionally she is survived by adoring grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
This portrait it sings, listen to its sound.
A portrait of a family where faith and love abound.
The music of two brothers and their playful love.
Waiting to show her what this world is made of.
Hear now a father’s harmony so protective and strong.
Freely giving all that he has, his love adds to this song.
Mother’s music is constant, soft and sweet her tune.
Songs of lullabies and prayers, whispers heard in her womb.
An angel now sings, God hears her song.
His orchestra accompanies her, loving and strong.
The angel hears His music, yet she pauses and waits.
Her song not yet finished this side of His gates.
The melody of her family, she listens to the faint sound.
Voices are asking for God’s Grace to abound.
A father and mother, and two brothers rejoice.
For accompanying them now is an angel’s voice.
Her time here on earth has come to an end.
Our angel has joined the voices of heaven.
God has welcomed her home with a celebration song.
Forever in His care right where an angel belongs.
Angel in Curls
There once was a happy family of four
who decided they'd try to have just one more
A little girl was their wish; they had two beautiful boys
Some ribbons & bows among all the sports toys
Mommy and Daddy went to the doctor for a routine ultrasound
But when they saw the pictures some problems they found
The tiny girl had defects on her brain and heart
The news was so sudden, they were broken apart
But they knew their God could heal the angel inside
Their friends and family met them with arms open wide
With so many in prayer, they were carried along
There was hope God could right all the things that were wrong
When she came to them in August, they had no special plans
One outfit, a blankie and God's loving hands
A miracle was born in the hospital there
An angel was crying with curly dark hair
They brought her home and filled her with love
And it was clear to them God was working above
You could see the movement of His mighty hand
Her doctors and nurses were the best in the land
With His careful guidance, they fixed her broken heart
You now could see clearly He'd been there from the start
So now the happy family's gone from broken to whole
With a true understanding that He's in control
So when you see their young daughter's beautiful face
Please know it's the gift of God's Amazing Grace
