On February 24, 2022, Trudy Lucia of Monte Sereno joined her many friends and family members who had passed before her, including her husband, Jack Lucia.
She was born Gertrude Constance Raab on November 25, 1929 in her hometown of Oakland, California.
She was a graduate of Holy Names High School, Class of 1947, and College of the Holy Names, Class of 1952.
During her college years she met her future husband, Jack Lucia, and they married on May 16,1953. While remaining in Oakland, they gave birth to three daughters.
In 1960 Trudy and Jack moved with the girls to Los Altos where they gave birth to their fourth daughter.
In 1969 they made their final move to Monte Sereno, California. Trudy once again connected with the Sisters of the Holy Names by enrolling her daughters in St. Mary School and Parish where she remained a very active member in the parish and school, involving herself in numerous outreach ministries.
Her granddaughter also graduated from St. Mary, which kept Trudy involved, especially with her friends at the Baked Potato Booth at the Country Fair sharing a good Old Fashion or two, coupled with lots of laughs with the Grande Dames, the movers and shakers, of the early days St. Mary School.
In addition to being an avid philanthropist, mother, and wife, she would also get lost in many a good book, golf, travel, including one of the maiden voyages on the Queen Mary. Always enjoying the seasonal holidays, her famous last words, “Please eat while the food is hot or Jack will be very angry!” Indeed, Trudy was hot on living life to the fullest.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack, sister, Maryrose Martin (Lowell), brothers George Raab, Bill Raab(Pauline), Bob Raab (Joan).
She is survived by her four daughters, Angela Lucia, Cathy Santalucia-Call(Bart), Barbara Desrosiers(Al), and granddaughter, Madeline Call.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 2nd, at 11:00AM, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Los Gatos, reception following.
