Gene Dee Freeman Sr. passed away surrounded by his family
on November 6, 2021. He is survived by his four children
Debbie Crowl, Gene Freeman Jr, Julie Dunne (Daniel), and
Randy Freeman. Gene has five grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren,
and a half-brother, Michael Parsons. He was
preceded in death by his wife, Davida, his son, Dennis, and his
great-grandchild, Nathan Swire.
Born in Earlsboro, Oklahoma on September 11, 1933, Gene
came to California in 1955 with his wife, Davida, where they
raised their five children. He and Davida were married for 64
years. Gene was the only child of Camille Campbell-Parsons
and Talley Freeman.
After serving in the U.S. Army, Gene was employed by the Ford
Motor Company in Milpitas prior to working for the City of
Santa Clara until he retired.
Gene was a loving and caring father, grandfather, and friend to
everyone. He was a strong Catholic and practiced his faith by
giving of himself to others who were in need. He taught
catechism in his early stages of becoming a Catholic and
assisted at his church whenever he was needed. Gene, an avid
fan of the San Francisco 49ers, was a fun-loving human being
who could enjoy a conversation with any friend or stranger.
He loved the mountains, camping, and teaching his children to
respect the wilderness. Gene loved the beach and spent time
there with his children, teaching all of them to swim in their

Dennis, and Nathan, who welcomed him with open arms. We
thank God for the time we had with our father, grandfather, and
friend as he will remain forever in our hearts.
