Elayne Cecile Shore Shuman entered heaven on April 3, 2019 at the age of 94. Born January 8, 1925, Elayne lived her entire life on one street. She leaves behind her son (David M. Shuman) and daughter (Audreyanne Shuman-Castellucci); daughter-in -law (Lynda Kelaita); 3 grandchildren (Kristi Shuman McKinney, Matthew Shuman, Jeffrey Shuman); and 5 great-grandchildren (Allyson McKinney Bader, Nicole McKinney, Kayleigh Shuman, Ryan Shuman, and Jacob Shuman). Elayne met Harold Shuman and was married in 1946.
Elayne is a 4th generation Los Gaton with the Kyle & Shore families dating back to the founding of Los Gatos. Her grandfather donated land in 1897 for the creation of Bunker Hill Park, later renamed Memorial Park in 1920. Her great grandfathers owned the 1st bakery in town (Capitola Bakery) as well as the union ice company founded in 1884.
Elayne was a 65 year member of the native daughters of the Golden West Vendome Parlor #100, and Rebekah’s Stella Lodge #22. Elayne was a very active Cub Scout and Camp Fire Girl leader for years. She was a member of the San Francisco Doll Club & United Federation of Doll Clubs 1st elected Regional Director for 3 sates. She was also a charter member of the Santa Clara Valley Button Club. She enjoyed being a mother substitute for 15 years for the LG parent nursery school, where she entertained the children as Mrs. Claus & Gwendolyn the Witch, also visiting local businesses. Elayne was a master seamstress and gardener.

Viewing will be held on April 18th from 10am-12 noon, and 4pm-8pm at Chapel of the Hills, Los Gatos. Memorial services will take place the following day, April 19th at 11am at Chapel of the Hills, with graveside service immediately following.
