Donald Ray Salyer

August 19, 1939 ~ May 2, 2018 (age 78)
Donald was born in Flat Gap, Kentucky to Normal and Hazel (Rigsby) Salyer. When he was three years old he moved from Kentucky to Mechanicsburg, Ohio. He proudly served his country in the US Army and US Army Reserves as a medic and was honorably discharge in 1968. When he was done with his active duty service in 1964 he moved to San Jose, Ca.


Donald married the love of his life Diane Marie (De Volt) Salyer on August 21, 1965 and they were married for over 52 years. In 1968 he went to work in Sunnyvale, Ca at Westinghouse as a Machinist which later became Northrop Grumman. After 31 years he retired in 1999. He liked to do woodworking, he made several things for close family members. He enjoyed gardening and always had a garden every year. He was a loving husband, grandfather, father, and brother and will be missed by his family.


Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Tammy and Dean Jones, his son Donald E. Salyer, his granddaughter Amanda Jones all from San Jose, Ca, three sisters Dorothy Moore of Springfield, Ohio, Janet Longsworth of Marion, Ohio, Mary Douglas of St Paris, Ohio, and One brother Roy Roger Salyer SR. of Urbana, Ohio, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bart and Rickie Sue Fitch of Manteca, Ca and several nieces and nephews.


He is Proceeded in death by his Parents, his wife Diane, four brothers Thomas (Buster) Salyer, Normal Salyer JR, Raymond Salyer, James Salyer and two sisters Joyce Willmeth and Hazel Heath.

A Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Hills on May 8th at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Los Gatos Memorial Park at 1 PM.
