Dewain G. Azevedo
February 20, 1927 — November 9, 2017
San Jose, California
Dewain G. Azevedo, age 90, son of John and Caroline Azevedo, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2017 in his home in San Jose, California.
Dewain is survived by his loving wife Doris, his son Jeffery and his wife Valerie, his daughter Kathleen and her husband Greg, his grandchildren Richard (and family), Chanayle (and her husband Nick), Andrew, Alexander, and Eric. In addition, his family is grateful for his devoted caregivers Donna and Brenda.
Born and raised in San Jose, Dewain enjoyed witnessing the many changes to the area he observed over time.
Dewain was one of the founders of West Valley Construction Co., where he served as Secretary/Treasurer until his retirement at age 62.
He enjoyed working around the home he loved and was always engaged in an ongoing project. His family joked that his home-away-from-home was the hardware store.
Dewain enjoyed traveling the world both physically and, in later years, by computer. Though he visited Europe, China and Russia, one of his favorite places was the Peppermill hotel in Reno. He liked good food and enjoyed cooking his specialty dishes. He also loved his koi pond and raised beautiful, colorful and unique fish.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, November 16th at Darling-Fischer Chapel of the Hills in Los Gatos. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Lung Association or the Stroke Awareness Foundation.
Dewain will be dearly missed. RIP dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
