David Allen Profio

David Allen Profio, 84, of Los Gatos, CA., passed away peacefully on August 19, 2023, in his home with his son and daughter in law at his side. 

He was born November 25, 1938, in Washington, PA. to Dominic Profio and Edith Bennett.  He was the oldest of three boys. 

David was a 1956 graduate of Cecil High School, and a 1960 graduate of Penn State University earning a degree in accounting. 

He served with the U.S. Army Reserve Unit 630th Transportation Company.  He was active duty from October 15, 1961, to August 8, 1962.  He served the remainder of his commitment as a reservist until December 18, 1966.

David started his computer marketing career with RCA shortly after graduating from college.  He joined the Four Phase/Motorola company in 1973 and stayed until 1984.  This company transferred him to the company headquarters in Cupertino, California in January 1978.  David moved his entire family across the country and began the California chapter of this Profio family.  David continued his career in computer marketing in the heart of Silicon Valley working for companies including Enhansys, National Advanced Systems, and finishing his computer marketing career working for Amdahl for over twelve years.

David was a member of the St. Francis Cabrini (San Jose) men’s club and served on the bingo crew for many years.  He was an avid Corvette enthusiast and owned three different Corvettes over his lifetime (model year 1962, 1966 and 1969).  He was a member of the Santa Clara Valley Corvette Club.  David also enjoyed tennis, but his greatest talent was as an accordion player.  At a young age, David learned to play the accordion which eventually led to a job playing in a bar/restaurant near the family home.  David played the accordion almost his entire life and played many sessions for family and close friends. 

On May 4, 1963, David married Imelda Mary Mrena from the Springdale Township.  They were married for 53 years at the date of her passing on February 2, 2017.  They have two sons, David Joseph and Jeffrey Bennett.

David is survived by his brother, Charles Profio of McDonald, PA.  He is also survived by his two sons, his two daughters in law, seven grandchildren, and one great grandson.

Friends and family are invited for a funeral service at Darling Fischer Los Gatos on Saturday, September 16th at 10am immediately followed by burial at Los Gatos Memorial Park.
