Carmela “Millie” Ricapito Bowman

October 5, 1924 ~ May 11, 2022 (age 97)

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Millie Bowman passed away Wednesday, May 11. Born in Philadelphia, she lived in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Michigan, and Southern California before settling in the Bay Area forty years ago. She served many American Baptist churches as the pastor’s wife, choir member, and in other roles in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and California. Her love of God was equaled only by love of family and of children.

A trained vocalist, Millie continued to perform solos into her 90s. She enjoyed such crafts as painting, knitting, needlepoint, and quilting. Millie enjoyed meeting people, and traveled overseas on many occasions.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Marie “Mickey” Adams. She is survived by her daughter Martha “Marty” Murray (Stan - deceased), and sons William, Thomas (Lori), Paul (Nancy), and Mark (Sue), Marie’s husband Robert, as well as 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Services will be private. Her remains will be interred in the Ricapito family plot at George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.
