Tribute

Our beloved Bill Billings, husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 19, 2023 in Folsom, CA.

Bill was born on December 13, 1924 in San Jose, CA to Harry Burton and Mildred Ann (Jungblut) Billings. He was preceded in death by his wife Teressa “Terry” Perez Billings, his youngest son Darrin Douglas Billings and daughter-in-law Rindi. Bill is survived by his three loving sons Jim, Calvin (Becky), Brian (Joyce) and daughter-in-law Julia, 10 grandchildren, Benjamin, Daniel, Theressa, Rebeckah, Timna, Keilah, Palestina, Anna, Amanda, and Emily, and 22 great grandchildren.

Bill graduated from Hayward High School in 1943 and joined the Army. He proudly served in WWII as a medic in France. Later in life Bill was well known for wearing his WWII veteran hat in public and loved when people acknowledged and thanked him for his service. Returning home from war he began work at Friden Calculator where he met the love of his life Terry. They were married in 1949 and celebrated 58 years of marriage before her passing in 2007. In 1961 Bill began to work in the dairy industry as a delivery driver and at one point owned his own drive-in dairy in San Jose, CA. In 1987 he proudly retired from Berkeley Farms.

Bill was an avid storyteller and especially loved to tell jokes. Some of Bill’s favorite pastimes included gambling, bowling, Lions Club, SIRS, 20-30 Club, ICF, and of course his daily glass of red wine. Bill was a devoted Catholic and could be found every Friday selling Cherry Bells at bingo.

Bill was a passionate sports fan and enjoyed watching football, baseball, and basketball.  He was a lifelong fan of the Oakland A’s and he and Terri were proud season ticket holders for many years. Bill’s contagious laugh and enthusiasm for life will be missed.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Bill’s name to Wounded Warriors, Hospice Care, St. Frances Cabrini Men’s Club or a charity of your choice.
