Beverly Wynia Hammond, age 79, died Sunday October 13, 2019 at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, CA. Beverly was born to Vernon and Fannie Zinsmaster in Clinton, WI in December 11, 1939. She grew up on a farm, graduating from Clinton High School and attending the Emmanuel Reformed Church. She married Melvin Wynia August 26, 1960, moving to Lincoln, Nebraska where Mel was an officer for Strategic Air Command in the United States Air Force. While in Lincoln, Beverly gave birth to her two sons Duane (1962) and James (1964). Continual learning was a delight to Beverly and she spent time earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music (SJSU), a Masters of Arts in TESOL (SJSU) and a Masters of Arts in Exegetical Theology (Western Seminary). Another of her lifelong passions was music in all forms. She loved to share music with others at her grand piano, taking up Harp in her later years. Beverly enjoyed teaching as demonstrated in her visit to China to teach English, her mission trips to the Philippines to teach Bible courses, her countless hours of teaching piano to many students of all ages and her time spent substitute teaching in local schools around San Jose. Beverly’s biggest passion was to share the love of Jesus wherever she went with the many people whom she encountered. The light of Jesus showed through her face and her sweet spirit touched many. She is now in heaven dancing and playing her songs for Jesus.
She is survived by her two sons, Duane (Tammy) Wynia of Rosemount MN, Jim (Renee) Wynia of San Jose, CA; three grandchildren Stephanie Wynia, Janae Wynia, David Wynia; one brother James (Carole Lee) Zinsmaster of Littleton, CO; and one sister Arlene (Bob) Williamson of Lake Geneva, WI.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin E. Wynia (1985) of 24 years, her second husband, Alvin D. Hammond (2011) of 8 years and her parents Vernon and Fannie Zinsmaster.
Beverly’s funeral service celebrating her life will be held on November 1, 2019 at 10:30AM – Gateway City Church (5883 Eden Park Pl, San Jose CA 95138).
