William James SinnottAugust 2, 1946 ~ September 12, 2017 (age 71)
Bill Sinnott passed away peacefully on Sept. 12, 2017 with family by his side. Bill was known for his generous and kind spirit, his quick wit and sense of humor, and his appreciation of the simple pleasures in life.
Bill served as a commissioned officer in the National Guard and then attended SJSU where he graduated and received his teaching credential. He began teaching at Irvington High School in Fremont, CA, in 1972. Bill coached soccer, football, and baseball while at Irvington, and was an inspiration to all who knew him.
While teaching and raising his family, he was able to run 6 marathons, qualifying for the Boston Marathon with a time of 2 hours, 57 minutes, and 12 seconds.
Bill retired in 2008, and was a substitute teacher for 7 years. Bill and his wife Sue moved to San Jose in 2015 to be near their beloved family and new granddaughter, Parker.
During retirement, Bill loved to work in the yard at his beach house, spend time with his family and friends, exercise, and watch Giants baseball.
Bill is survived by Sue, his loving wife of 43 years, his son Ryan, daughters Kristen and Kellie, granddaughter Parker, his brother Neil, and sisters Ellen and Kathleen.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral mass at Holy Spirit Church, 1200 Redmond Ave. in San Jose, on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10 AM. A gathering will be held in the Parish Hall immediately following the mass. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Irvington High School’s Athletic Department in Fremont, CA.
