Helena Bernice Wadiak

Helena B. Wadiak passed away on Thursday April 11, 2017 at the Meadows Senior Community after a brief illness. Her kindness and generosity touched many family members and friends.
Helena was born in Carteret New Jersey, to Adalbert and Brouislavn (nee’ Bogdan) Gilbert, graduated from Carteret High School and subsequently married Joseph Wadiak of Carteret and settled down to raise a family. Helena had 2 siblings, brother Stanley and sister Amelia, both now deceased. She traveled extensively with her family, with surviving sons Clifford Joseph and David Thomas, to Germany and various US states on US military assignments with husband Maj. (US Army) Joseph Wadiak. She is also survived by the spouses of Clifford and David, Susan and Maureen, respectively, and grandsons Nicholas and Mathew, and their respective spouses and children, Janelle and Emma, and great grandchildren Kaitlyn and Taylor.
Helena enjoyed singing and music, as the lead singer in Shorty Warren’s band in the 1930’s in New Jersey, and painting, as an accomplished amateur artist later in life. She was also a favorite Bridge player at the Los Gatos Meadows Senior Community.
Internment of her ashes, along with husband Joseph’s ashes, will be conducted in a private ceremony at the Los Gatos Memorial Park in late May or June 2017.
