EDWARD N. BATINICH
January 16, 1921 - September 26, 2017
Edward (Bo) N. Batinich, 96, surrounded by family, left us to join the Lord and his angels on September 26,2017. Edward was a native of San Jose and was the youngest child of Peter and Katherine Batinich, early Santa Clara Valley orchardists. Predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Frances; sisters Ann, Kay, Zora and brother Nick. Survived by his children Susanna Lyon Batinich (Terry Green), Bruce (Terri) Batinich; Grandchildren Christopher (Kim) Lyon, Matthew Lyon, Kurt (Jenny) Batinich, Elisabeth Batinich; Great Granddaughter Charlotte Lyon; Niece Jessica, nephews Dan and Rick. While growing up on Meridian Ave Ed worked in the family orchard, in local canneries and Larson Ladder. Ed attended Sunol Grammar and Herbert Hoover, graduated from San Jose High and attended San Jose State University. Ed participated in basketball and track in high school and college until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Ed was a decorated B-17 pilot in WWII having flown 35 missions over Europe. Ed had a wide and varied career working for TWA, US Navy, Hiller Aircraft, Lockheed, Aluma Systems, Safway as well as being a developer, general contractor and owner of B&B Scaffolding. Even after retiring and moving to the Villages, Ed actively worked until his mid-80’s. Ed’s true passion were his grandchildren and he enjoyed watching them compete in sports along with enjoying traveling with friends and family. Ed was a member of Am-Slavs, Napredak, SIRS, Semper Virens. Honoring Ed’s request the services will be private. The family asks in lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
