Born and raised on a farm in Ellendale, North Dakota, to parents Max Joseph and Lydia Link Erdelt, the third child in a family of eight children. Graduated from Ellendale High School.
Resident of Los Gatos for forty-seven years. Alice was an outstanding and avid golfer. Long time member of the Ladies 18 Hole Group at La Rinconada Country Club, winner of the Captain’s trophy, 2006 Eclectic Tournament Champion, and two holes in one. She golfed at major golf courses all over America, Hawaii, and the British Isles.
She was an excellent bridge player, and was a active member of the La Rinconada Country Club Ladies Duplicate Bridge group for many years.
A master quilter, she designed, sewed and quilted over 75 quilts. One of her favorite events of the year outside of golf or traveling was the Pacific International Quilt Show in Santa Clara where you could find her appreciating the beautiful quilts and planning her next quilt project.
She loved her family.
Alice is survived by Dr. Raymond Schwinn, husband of 66 years, daughters: Jill Schwinn, Julie Schwinn Carpenter (Richard), Alice Schwinn Spanjersberg (Bart). Grandchildren: Rachel Borello DeSantis (Stephen), Sean de la Torre (Kat), Paul de la Torre (Sarah), Christine de la Torre, Meagan Davis, Bart Spanjersberg Jr., Chloe Spanjersberg, Devin Spanjersberg, Ella Spanjersberg. Great Grandchildren: Ryan Wise (Stephanie), Nicole Wise, Alexa Wise, Christian Wise, Gavin de la Torre. Sister: Maxine Funk (Dave). Brother: Max Erdelt (Darlene).
Predeceased by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, and daughter Nancy Schwinn Davis.
Services will be held at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, 5100 Camden Ave., San Jose, CA on September 9, 2017 at 9 A.M. Burial to follow at Mission City Memorial Park, 420 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara, CA.
